This site is for people in the Boston area searching for homeless and animal shelters. The site was started in the #HelloWorld program at MIT, and was coded over a period of 7 weeks. Please send any questions or information to the email address that you see at the bottom of the screen.
I would recommend to anyone who needs access to a homeless shelter to call ahead. My source for the Homeless page is Homeless Shelter Directory, which also lists phone numbers so that you can get the most up-to-date information from each shelter.
Q:Why was this site created?
This site was created because the sites created in this program had to pertain to social justice. As of December of 2013, there were 7,255 homeless people in the city of Boston. Therefore, I figured that a site of this kind has to be useful to some people.
